The Amputee & Family Support Group exists to help amputees prepare for and reclaim their lives through faith, work mentorship, peer support and visitation. We will visit patients both pre-op and post-op in order to help them prepare for an upcoming surgery and become adapted to the changes life will hold for them. We will work with all age ranges from children to seniors and have amputees of all ages with a vast supply of knowledge to help with all needs and questions.
Our vision is to be available to all amputees and their family members at all times in order to assist with any questions throughout pre- surgery, the surgery process and the recovery process. Providing all the knowledge we can so that you can be as informed as possible. We also want to help you to reach the highest quality of life possible through help with understanding the latest technology available for your situation.
We will meet on the second Tuesday of each month @ 6:30 pm. Meetings will be scheduled till 8:00 pm, however, they will continue as long as needed to insure all questions are answered and all concerns are taken care of as completely as possible. The venue for the meetings will be changed regularly to help make it convenient for everyone possible.
***** UPDATES *****
I would like to add pictures to our website that are actual pictures of our members living life. Any and all are appreciated and will be added to the website to be viewed by others in hopes they may see that moving forward in life after such a loss is a reality. Anything form sitting on the front porch, watching cars go by to climbing mountains is good. Just make sure they are realistic. Please email them to afsg2010@gmail.com
These links are provided for your convenience and research. You will find more information on prosthetic equipment and the companies who provide some of the most technologically advanced equipment available by visiting our "resources" page.
Making a Difference

I must take a moment here to hopefully explain what the experience of working with others through the support group has meant to myself and the entire support group. We do not hesitate when we find out about someone's need because when God calls we are to answer without hesitation. Following that calling and His lead is the guide that helped all this to come together. If you find yourself in a position to reach out, remember, our paths cross with others because our service is required and our ability is a given gift to use for His calling.

Story By Channel 48 / Above and Beyond

Once again our thanks go out to Tammy Key and family for all their support and ongoing help with this group. Thanks to Tammy and her desire to see this group grow and be able to reach out to the amputee community channel 48 has done an interview and you can read that by clicking on the link below.

Channel 48 / Above and Beyond

The Amputee Coalition of America is a good resourse for and outreach for living life as an amputee. With meesgae boards where you can discuss things openly with other amputees, magazines and outreach resourses, every amputee should look into this organization and what they have to offer.

Amber Cook has volunteered to work on member Bio's and photos for the website. Please contact us if you are willing to participate.

We will be adding more photos of group members in the near future. We are currently working on a page that will give an upclose and personal look into the members of our group by telling their stories. In order to further our effort to reach out to the community and other amputees we want to make ourselves available for those in need of support in any way.
